This split is eight tracks of totally awesome. Both bands shred through four songs that weave together elements of virtually every sub-genre of metal into complex and progressive music that is surprisingly catchy and accessible; especially considering the crazy riffage and constant time signature fluctuations. Beyond being catchy and technically proficient, the song writing is top notch and shows both bands at the very top of their game. This is also a concept album, with the lyrics of every song being inspired by landscapes both real and fictitious. This recording has been a long time coming and is successful on many levels.
